The new Office 365 Groups feature seems to create a group in Planner. We need our users to be able to interact with this on a mobile device like they would an IM or SMS. Truth be told, it doesn't really fill the need either.
SfB is sending those replies as brand new 1 on 1 chats back to employee A. So like say employee A sends a Skype message to a group, then employee B and C reply to it. When people start replying to the group chat, it then splits up the messages into individual messages, not even hitting the group chat. it's like their trademark now.Īs an alternative to using persistent chat rooms, we have tried using distribution groups with Skype for Business, and this would indeed fill the need, however whenever any user starts a conversation with any distribution group, participants are missing, or SfB creates two different chat windows with independent conversations and half of the distribution group is in one window, the other half in the other. This is yet another example of "missing features" in the premium version of a Microsoft product. Even the consumer version of Skype has persistent chat rooms.
Problem: Skype for Business Server (local) has a persistent chat room feature.
My company has an Office 365 Business tenant, and all users are using Skype for Business through our Office 365 tenant.
